Damian Broadley

Director

Damian spent 28 years at AJ Park, New Zealand's largest Intellectual Property Law firm, first as a junior lawyer, then as a Partner and finally as Managing Partner for nearly 7 years until stepping down in 2020. Damian specialises in the strategic management of trade mark portfolios, including trade mark development, clearance and ongoing protection and renewal. He is also a Notary Public.

Having acted for many of the world's largest companies as well as a who's who of New Zealand listed, private and government entities, Damian has a genuine interest in business and the success of his clients. Always calm, level headed and detail aware, he works with companies across a range of industries, but has particular experience in film and television mechandising, pharmaceuticals, IT and telecommunications, tourism, wine and finance. He has been involved in some of the largest and most complex IP disputes and deals ever seen in New Zealand, some public, and some not.

Damian's practice is genuinely values driven, with an emphasis on excellence,  timeliness and value for the client, but also on forming long term relationships with a small number of clients who he enjoys working with. He is a director of several companies and enjoys mentoring startups and small companies in relation to both IP and other issues.

For many years Damian has regularly been selected by clients and peers for listing in publications such as Best Lawyers in the New Zealand IP category, Managing Intellectual Property's IP Stars, World Intellectual Property Review's WIPR Leaders, World Trademark Review's WTR Global Leaders and The Legal 500 Asia Pacific's leading lawyers. Damian was a finalist in the Managing Partner category in New Zealand Law Awards in 2019. 

Damian is married, a father of 3, a keen skier,  a hockey player and a musician.
